Mobile App

HippoMD

HippoMD was the first mobile app in Canada to dispatch doctors to patients’ homes. An “Uber” for Doctors.

HippoMD approached our team with the challenge of launching Canada’s first service that would send doctors to patients’ houses via a mobile app. There were uncompromising parameters within which the app would need to be built: The technology needed to protect all patients’ and doctors’ personal information; all data within the app needed to be stored in compliance with PHIPA; and all transmission of said data could not be communicated in plain text.

We assumed the role of CTO within the startup and developed an architecture upon which the platform would be implemented, as well as a technology roadmap of when future features of the service would be rolled in with updates.

The app was released on iOS and served Toronto neighbourhoods. The app allowed patients to enter their health card information, have the information verified, describe their symptoms, then have a doctor dispatched to them with realtime updates of the doctor’s status.

To facilitate administration of the app, our team built an administrative interface with which a HippoMD team member would be able to assign and dispatch doctors.
